About this Event

The Queer Theory Group and Assemblage Centre for Creative Practice Research are honoured to host special guest Darcy Green (bestselling author of After the Siren) for a presentation on Queer media.

Leaving the Cottage: queer sports romance in a post-Heated Rivalry world.

Heated Rivalry (TV) exploded into cultural prominence at the end of 2025. As a long-time sports romance reader and writer, Darcy watched its ascendancy with both delighted incredulity and a little trepidation. In this keynote, Darcy will discuss their hopes (and fears) for the future of queer sports romance, and ask everyone – readers, writers, academics, lovers and haters alike – to reflect on how they think and talk about stories like Heated Rivalry.

Darcy Green is visiting Adelaide/Tarntanya to take part in a one-day online colloquium, ‘Hot Takes and Ice Skates’ (click here to stream the whole colloquium!), inspired by the phenomenon of Heated Rivalry. Local university students, postgrads, and staff have the chance to meet Darcy and watch their afternoon keynote in person on campus! But tickets are limited and bookings are essential, so reserve your spot fast.

If you want to watch Darcy’s keynote but can’t come in person, register for the online colloquium here to receive the Zoom link and make sure to tune in by 4:00pm ACST to watch this presentation: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/hot-takes-and-ice-skates-a-heated-rivalry-colloquium-tickets-1983420806023
