💙 The Experience:

Whether you're stepping onto the dance floor for the first time or looking to expand your dance skills, this evening is designed to be fun, welcoming, and accessible to everyone. No partner is required, and beginners are encouraged to join.

During this interactive social, you'll learn the foundational steps of Konpa, including posture, timing, partner connection, musicality, and the signature smooth movements that make this dance style unique. Along the way, you'll gain insight into the history of Konpa and its role as a celebration of Haitian culture, resilience, and community.

The evening is led by Jean-René Rinvil, a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and cultural entrepreneur based in Tampa, Florida. As the founder of Danse Konpa, established in 2011, Jean-René has spent more than a decade sharing Haitian culture through dance, visual arts, filmmaking, and education. In 2025, he was recognized as a Trailblazer by the City of Tampa during its 37th Annual Black History Celebration for his contributions as an artist, filmmaker, and community leader.

Come ready to learn, laugh, meet new people, and enjoy an unforgettable evening where music and culture bring the community together.

✨ Konpa is known as one of the friendliest social dances in the world, making this the perfect opportunity to try something new in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Whether you come with friends, a partner, or on your own, you'll leave with new skills, meaningful connections, and a greater appreciation for Haitian culture.
