About this Event
Dance Roulette is a somatic adventure in permission, play, and serendipity - and was consistently one of the highest-rated workshops at SoulPlay for the past 5 years.
Candice Holdorf and Gabriel Diamond have created a series of almost 250 unique movement invitations, scores, and constraints. Each dancer randomly chooses one. Everyone has something different, and no one knows what each other has.
Each new round of prompts invites a deeper layer of connection and possibility. It’s dance meets medicine ceremony in a group field.
Dance Roulette is designed to inspire, invite, and challenge dancers to discover new ways of movement and relating through archetypal solo, interactive, interrelational, and intergenerational inquiry.

Do I need to have taken your Blindfolded Contact Dance class to take Dance Roulette?
No - but it’s highly encouraged. Please review our . That said, if you’ve taken our Blindfolded Contact workshop, it’s very helpful, as there might be opportunities to dance with those as well :)
Do I need to bring a partner?
You can come alone, with a partner, or a group of friends. There is no structured "partner dancing" - though there will be many opportunities to dance with others.
Is this like improv theater?
While your dance can certainly be spontaneous and improvised, this isn't theatrical improv in that there is no audience and no performance. All participants will be engaged in the dance at the same time.
Can I enjoy a few drinks before to help me loosen up?
No. Please do not drink or do any mood-altering substances before attending. Doctor-prescribed medications are fine. Dance Roulette encourages deep emotional exploration and requires sobriety and presence - not only for your protection but also for the protection of all participants. If you smell like alcohol or are obviously intoxicated, you will be asked to leave the space without a refund.
