1. What is Dance Magic?Dance Magic is a dynamic dance fitness class, integrating social justice frameworks, messages of body liberation, while acknowledging our history, roots and the diverse cultures from which our lineages were created. On the outside it's a dance party...on the inside, it's a transformation through allyship and advocacy of your authentic and highest Self.
2. Who is this for?
Open to all! Anyone who loves to dance and be guided through inviting and entertaining choreography!
Including! For LGBTQIA+, Allies, people in recovery, parents, adults, teenagers, drag queens, drag kings, thems, drag performers, therapists, people who move around in chairs, people who move around on feet, coaches, managers, wellness practitioners, anyone who loves or hates cheese....
3. Who is teaching?!
Dance Magic is led by Alex Vaughan (they/them pronouns), a dynamic drag performer, a Colorado Certified Peer and Family Specialist and a Nationally Certified Recovery Coach, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor, and Usui/Holy Fire Reiki practitioner. They have been performing & teaching for over 25 years, with Dance Magic being one of their many pathways through their own long term recovery as a transgender, nonbinary and ADHD human. Facing discrimination, harrassment, enduring shame and bullying in the fitness industry, Alex creates spaces of belonging where autonomy and lived experience are honored, valued, and respected.
4. What are the rules?
Alex suggests bringing water and earplugs if you are extra sensitive to louder-ish music. Wear comfortable shoes that you can exercise in and perform lateral movements.
5. An hour of dancing sounds like a long time! Do I have to stay or dance the whole time?
Short answer, no. Absolutely not. Do what you can, meet yourself where you are that day. There's an area to sit down if you ever need a break. We're glad you're here!
6. How much does it cost?
$25. Tickets in link below!
