Classical ballet, expressive contemporary, and sharp jazz dance are beneficial for figure skaters and athletes who need to move more fluid. But dance gives even more than just fluid motion. Dance gives movement musicality, body control, and freedom of expression.
In this class we will always start with a classical ballet barre (no not the exercise trend that’s become trendy that is inspired by ballet but doesn’t), an across the floor phrase or technical exercise, and finish off with a short choreographed dance. Each week will have a different style of dance (ballet, contemporary, jazz).
This class is open to adults 18+ and we will work very methodically and thoroughly from an anatomical perspective because we don’t want to sustain injuries from improper body placement.

Price 150kr per class. Pre-register your spot so I know who is coming because I have to buzz you into the building.

Background about Alaine:
I have taught dance for 20+ years in Los Angeles, New York City, Singapore, Switzerland, Sweden, and guest workshops in Malta, Guangzhou, Houston. I have a Bachelors degree in dance from UCLA’s world arts & cultures department and have performed professionally as a modern dancer in Los Angeles and New York City. In 2008, I started my own dance company and we toured and performed at festivals in New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, Toronto, Singapore, and Edinburgh. I was the recipient of several grant for my choreography from Singapore International Foundation between 2010-2013. I currently teach at various studios and centers in Skåne.
I was a competitive figure skater in my teens and rediscovered my love for the sport in 2021 in my late 30s. I am now an active member of adult figure skating club, Malmö Ice flyers and have started teaching dance to some members of the club this spring. I have previously taught dance to figure skaters and gymnasts in Skåne and Singapore.
