Dance and Be Bold: A 70s Prom Fundraiser for Sojourner House

In the mid-70s, a group of trailblazing activists refused to let domestic violence remain a "private matter." They broke the silence and– recognizing that no resources existed to support Rhode Islanders in crisis– built a safe haven for survivors.

Daring to dream in a community free from violence and act on the outrage they felt, they created Sojourner House. Fifty years later Sojourner House has been able to provide shelter, counseling, and life-saving supportive services to more than 60,000 victims of abuse.

Although violence still exists in homes across the Ocean State, thanks to their actions, so does hope.

To honor that founding vision, we are hosting a 70s-themed “Retro Prom” on Friday, April 10th to celebrate their history and fuel their future.
