The Danbury Concert Chorus, under the direction of John Cuk, will perform works by American composers. On the program will be the well-known and endearing work by Randall Thompson, “Frostiana”, which sets seven poems by Robert Frost to music. Emma Lou Diemer, who recently passed away, wrote “Three Madrigals”, a work set to three Shakespearean texts. To round out the program, the chorus will sing two works by groundbreaking composer Florence Price, “Praise the Lord” and “Resignation”, Ola Gjeilo’s haunting setting of “Ubi Caritas, and Morten Lauridsen’s “Sure on this Shining Night” and “Dirait-on!”
Organist Joshua Ehlebracht will perform a special prelude as a part of the concert which begins at 4 pm.
Admission is FREE. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the door.
