A good song, a warm voice, and a piano player who knows when to leave room for the melody. Dan Sturdevant has spent years making that combination work in Kansas City, as a singer, pianist, accompanist, and bandleader.
His repertoire reaches from jazz and swing into songs by Bill Withers, Prince, and Leonard Cohen. Longtime listeners know his partnership with Millie Edwards Nottingham at the Phoenix; his career has also taken him to the American Restaurant, the InterContinental, Piropos, and other familiar Kansas City rooms.
