Learn about the life cycle and behavior of damselflies and dragonflies and what the differences are between the two suborders. Entomologist Dr. Amanda Whispell will share information to enhance your appreciation for these remarkable insects.

About our speaker: Amanda Whispell holds a PhD in Entomology from Rutgers University, where her research focused on the evolution of color and color change in odonates. She is the Editor-in-Chief of ARGIA, the news journal for the Dragonfly Society of the America, through which she supports the dissemination of knowledge about Odonata research, conservation efforts, and encourages the appreciation of these remarkable insects. In addition to her role as an editor, Dr. Whispell is an Outreach and Education Specialist for the Colonial Soil and Water Conservation District, where she develops educational programming with a focus on pollinator conservation and the importance of preserving native insect species. She works with local schools, community groups, and organizations to foster a deeper understanding of the vital role insects play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
