About the Program:
Join us for a special program with Chelsea Zeno, Director of Volunteers & Community Outreach at Vogel Alcove, a Dallas nonprofit dedicated to helping children overcome the trauma of homelessness. Chelsea will share how Vogel’s unique programs — from early childhood education to mental health services — are giving children the tools and support they need to thrive.
In the spirit of Lions service, this meeting goes a step further. Together we will assemble 200 “Bye Bye Bags” (snack bags) for children at Vogel to take with them as they return to shelters. These simple bags of snacks provide comfort and nourishment to kids facing some of life’s toughest challenges. It’s a meaningful way to combine inspiration and action in one lunch hour.
This program reflects our club’s commitment to both engaging community leaders and rolling up our sleeves for service. This past year, we’ve welcomed an incredible lineup of speakers and partners including Dr. Stephanie Elizalde, Superintendent of Dallas ISD; Dr. Bradford Williams, President of El Centro; Trustee Joe Carreon, Dallas ISD; Dallas County Treasurer Pauline Medrano; Judge Audrey Moorehead; historian Sol Villasana; Councilmembers Omar Narvaez and Adam Medrano; Dr. Frederick P. Cerise, President and CEO of Parkland Health; Dr. Philip Huang, Dallas County Health Director; Michael Lamm from Dallas Fire & Rescue; Bill Braem, VP at the Dallas Zoo; Dallas Police Assistant Chief Mark Villarreal; and John Dodd, former Mayor of Farmers Branch and DISD Trustee.
