About this Event
Dakota the Dinomummy is a beautifully preserved specimen of the dinosaur Edmontosaurus with extensive areas of skin and nails preserved. Dakota is the first dinosaur discovered with tooth and claw marks preserved in its skin, revealing the story of what happened to this animal after it died.
Though parts of the specimen are on display in the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum, much of the specimen is still being actively cleaned and researched downstairs in the NDGS Paleontology Lab. We're offering limited opportunities to tour the NDGS Paleontology Lab, meet some of the paleontologists working on Dakota, and see the ongoing work on the specimen.
Individuals of all ages are welcome to attend, but kids must be accompanied by an adult. Every individual attending the tour must sign up for a ticket. Each tour is scheduled for approximately 30 minutes, but actual time will vary based on participant participation, timely arrival of participants, and other factors. Please contact NDGS Paleontology if you are scheduling a tour for a large group ([email protected]).
Tours sponsored by a grant from the David B. Jones Foundation.
