Watercolours are a beautifully expressive medium, perfect for capturing the light, freshness, and delicacy of spring daffodils. In this gentle, guided workshop, you’ll learn how to paint a vibrant daffodil study using simple techniques suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced artists.
🎨 What You’ll Learn
Preparing your paper: stretching or taping down, choosing brushes, and mixing a clean palette
Sketching your daffodils: simple shapes, proportions, and composition
Light first washes: building soft yellows and greens with transparent layers
Developing form: glazing, lifting out highlights, and creating depth in petals and stems
Adding detail: centres, shadows, edges, and expressive brushwork
Finishing touches: refining contrast and adding optional background washes
