daCi Utah Day of Dance

Welcome to the daCi Utah Day of Dance!

The daCi Utah Day of Dance is a festival for individuals, families, creatively oriented dance studios, and school groups. Participants experience hands-on instruction in various breakout sessions. Then finish in creative sessions, creating new dance works under the direction of seasoned professionals, and performing together in a casual sharing showcase. Breakout and creative sessions are taught by highly qualified dance teaching artists and will serve approximately 300 participants, from babes in arms to grandparents.

Studio participants will also enjoy a morning session with lively technique classes and opportunities to interact with dancers from other like-minded studios. Studio groups are welcome to bring compositions or pieces to perform.

Info: Lively classes will be taught by professional artists from Repertory Dance Theatre. These seasoned professional dancers will guide your students through challenging technique sessions as well as spend time with creative improvisation, inviting students to work "hand in hand" with those from other studios. Classes will be divided into three groups according to ability and age. Studio directors--please check your emails for other important information.

Info: Start with two breakout sessions of your choice followed by a whole group session bringing everyone "hand to hand." After a snack break (snacks provided), participate in the creative process, guided by one of our highly experienced dance artists. Ready or not, enjoy a sense of completion as you perform your (almost) perfect dance in our final "Sharing Showcase." Leave your feedback, and the goodbye cookie is on us! Info: Breakout sessions are meant to expose participants to cultural dance from around the world as well as providing opportunities for mult-generational families and friends to dance together. The same breakout sessions are offered for both session 1 and session 2. Options include: Native American, Samoan, Flamenco, African, Music in Motion/Intergenerational, and a Visual Art class if a dance break is needed. Studio participants can either take a 45 minute lunch break during this block of time or have a quick snack and jump right into both breakout sessions. Class selection will happen onsite.
