Dachshund Dash at Volksfest 2026

The Dachshund Dash will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2025 at Volksfest beginning around 5 pm. The registration fee is $25.00 and includes 2 entrance tickets for Volksfest on the day of the race. We'll have goodie bags for all participants and prizes for the winners!

The Dachshund Dash is a fun and exciting event for both participants and spectators! To ensure a fair and enjoyable race, please follow these guidelines:

Eligibility Requirements

• Breed Requirement: The race is limited to dachshunds. Dachshund legs are only so long - and we must keep a level playing field. The Deutsches Haus reserves the right to disqualify any participant.
• Vaccination Requirement: All participating dogs must be up to date on their vaccinations for the safety of all participants.

Race Procedures

• Check-in Process: Upon check-in, each participant will be assigned to a race and a color. Each dog will wear a colored neckerchief during their heat and final race.
• Each racing heat requires two handlers: One at the starting gate and one at the finish line, which is 20 yards away.

Race Rules:

• Dogs may step out of bounds but must re-enter the track and fully cross the finish line within the boundaries without being grabbed.
• If a handler touches the dog before it completely crosses the finish line, the dog will be disqualified.
• If a handler or owner crosses in front of the finish line during a race, their dog will be disqualified.

Advancement & Championship

Semi-Finals:

• The 1st and 2nd place finishers from each semi-final heat will advance to the Final Race.

Final Race:

• The 1st place finisher of the Final Race will be crowned the 2025 Deutsches Haus Dachshund Dash Champion!
