Cycle the City:100

Cycle the City:100 is a family and kid friendly group cycle ride across Southsea.
We will meet in Guildhall Square then ride together, with marshalls, as a group down to the Common, where we will have a picnic.

The event will do three things:

Number one: It will be fun! It's an occasion for people of all ages to ride together in a supportive setting, and celebrate cycling
Number two: The ride will celebrate 100 years of cycling in Pompey since it became a city in 1926. We have an amazing history and heritage of cycling here: clubs such as Portsmouth CTC were set up in that year, and cycling became the most common way to commute for dockyard workers for most of the 20th century.
Number three: The ride will draw attention to the need for joined up cycle lanes in Portsmouth to get people feeling safe to get back on bikes, and help us become a cycling city again!

Picnic: The ride will finish with a picnic and some fun activities for the kids. Do bring some food to eat and a blanket to sit on.

Who: Anyone who loves cycling is welcome: kids are particularly welcome, and we will go at a pace that accommodates them.
