Cyanotype Tote Bag Workshop with Nikki Gardner
Advertisement
Ever wondered how an image appears without a camera or filter? This November, Northampton artist and photographer Nikki Gardner is teaching one of photography's oldest and most hands-on processes — and you leave with a finished piece of art you made yourself.
Cyanotype printing uses iron-based chemistry and UV light to create striking blue-and-white prints on fabric and paper. It was invented in 1842. It's still made entirely by hand today.
In this two-hour workshop you'll watch a live demo of how to mix the chemistry and coat fabric, then arrange botanicals, feathers, and found objects into your own composition, expose your design under UV light, and rinse your print to reveal the finished image. You'll leave with a one-of-a-kind cyanotype tote bag you made yourself.
No camera. No computer. No prior experience needed. All materials are included.
Perfect for a solo creative morning, a date, or a fun outing with your kids. Ages 8 and up welcome with a caregiver.
