Cyanotype Printing with Rose Cefalu

Learn the process of making art from the sun! Cyanotypes use special materials to create an images using the sun! All materials included!

Join in to learn the process of making a Sun Print (also known as a cyanotype). We will make prints from your images and use found objects (dried plants, crystals, feathers, don't worry about bringing anything I have a bunch of fun objects) after a quick lesson, we will coat the watercolor paper with a light sensitive solution, let it dry, prep our objects or negative and go out into the sun to expose the paper, come back inside and rinse and dry the print.

Note: Please sign up early as a few days before the class is held the instructor will ask that you send photos to her via email so that she can prepare them for the experience.
Each person will have the opportunity to make at least 4-6 prints 9 x12 inches each. You will create a one-of-a-kind artwork. This experience is limited to 12 people max. We will be working inside and outside and kids 8 and older can enjoy this process. All Materials are included.

About the Instructor: Rose Cefalu’s first love is photography and she has been lucky enough to make it her career for the past 25 years, as a photographer, producer, and educator. 15 years ago, she started coming to Joshua Tree for photo shoots and fell in love with the landscape. Now she calls it home and loves exploring the desert and all its plants and animals.

Rose is super passionate about cyanotype printing because she misses the days of watching a print develop before her eyes. She created this experience that will let you be the artist in the desert and create your own cyanotype.
