About this Event

What happens when the age of science collides with stories of miracles, levitation, demonic possession, and the supernatural?

St. Mary's University and The Catholic Women's League (CWL) invites you to the CWL Annual Lecture, and the first of our Inspiration Unplugged Lecture series featuring Dr. Carlos Eire. A Yale University Professor and award-winning historian, Dr. Eire will provide a fascinating look at the strange and supernatural side of the Scientific Revolution. Drawing on historical accounts and archival evidence, Dr. Eire explores how people made sense of seemingly impossible events at a time when science was transforming our understanding of the world.

Featuring extraordinary stories of figures such as St. Teresa of Avila and St. Joseph of Cupertino, the lecture asks a question that remains relevant today: Is there more to reality than what can be observed by science?
