MEETING POINT: At the old clock tower next to the chapel.
As part of the tour we visit the graves of service personnel from the Army, Air Force, Merchant Navy and Home Guard spanning both wars. We visit the graves of two soldiers and tell the stories of how they were awarded gallantry medals for bravery, tell the story of a soldier who served in the Great War and then saw service in the Home Guard during WW2, and visit the grave of a young lady who served in the Womens' Auxilary Airforce, who's father was the proprietor of the Royal Playhouse Cinema and the Royal Gatehouse Hotel in Tenby for several decades. We also visit the graves of several Merchant Seamen and tell how they perished when their ship hit a mine at the mouth of the River Ely, talk about the bravery of an off duty defence soldier and a police constable, who were involved in the recue operation.
The tour lasts approx. 60 mins and covers about 400 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground on a hill.
There is on-street parking available opposite the cemetery. Toilets are available attached to the chapel including disability accessibility. Please bring water if required.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Only assistance dogs are allowed in the cemetery.
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.
The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).
