MEETING POINT is at the Cross of Sacrifice at the Carr Lane entrance.

Hyde Park Cemetery is a much loved local landmark. Opening in 1856 and extended in 1882 it extends to 15 acres. It contains the graves of the famous (eg. Patrick Stirling, locomotive engineer to the Great Northern Railway) and not so famous, with distinct boundaries separating the well to do graves from ‘3rd class’ burials.

There are 109 identified war graves scattered throughout its grounds, almost three quarters are from the First World War. There are a number of Royal Flying Corps burials stemming from the Royal Flying Corps Training Depot established next to the Racecourse.

The tour lasts approx. 75 mins and covers about 1600 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground.

There is limited parking available. There are no on-site facilities and toilets. Please bring water if required.

Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.

Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome.
