Join us for an afternoon focused on best practices and strategies to improve the quality and longevity of your cut flowers—from field to vase. This free workshop is designed for flower growers of all experience levels, with expert-led sessions on seed saving, bulb storage, harvest techniques, and post-harvest handling.
Workshop Schedule:
1:00 PM – Seed Saving and Bulb Storage for Cut Flowers Andrew Phiefer, Horticulture Agent, Stanly County
Learn how to properly collect and store seeds and bulbs to ensure strong starts for next season’s cut flowers. Tips will include selecting the best specimens, drying methods, and storage conditions.
2:00 PM – Cut Flower Harvest Best Practices Craig Mauney, Area Specialized Agent
Craig will share proven strategies for harvesting flowers at the right stage and under the best conditions to extend vase life and reduce waste.
3:00 PM – Cut Flower Post-Harvest Resources and Strategies Matthew Clay, Horticulture Agent, Wilkes County
Matthew will cover essential post-harvest techniques and tricks from research-based information, along with Extension resources available to help your flower operation succeed.
