Custom Slipcovers: An Introduction

Take your sewing to the next level by learning how to cut and pin a fitted slipcover.

A new project can feel like play-time, and making custom slipcovers can be fun: explore the room, look at colors and textures, decide about style and come to workshop to learn how to begin making the slipcover.

In this workshop, you will learn to:

Before the first workshop date, consider the following:

Think of one particular room. How do you envision this room? How do you use this room?

Stand in the doorway and look at the furniture. What do you want to accomplish with this project? Function: frequent use? Comfort: additional sitting, more pillows? Style: make the room more relaxed or more formal? Change the color? Add new texture?

The fabric can impact the flow of your room. Pattern: do you want to draw attention?Solid color: do you want to simply blend with the décor? Comfort: new foam inside the sitting cushions? Convenience: is the texture of wrinkles from washing acceptable?

If you bring a picture of your room, we can brainstorm fabrics, and stores to consider.
