Even though agents are not homebuilders, it is helpful for them to have a basic knowledge of the process involved in building the products they sell. This basic knowledge will help agents carefully make more educated recommendations for their clients pertaining to home construction, contracts, pricing, and vetting a contractor. 

Typically, home buyers have a list of features they desire in a new home construction. Even though certain characteristics are extremely important to virtually all homebuyers, these tend to not get mentioned on the homebuyer’s list. For example: 

1. Indoor Air Quality – Most people spend on average 12+ hours a day in their homes. Homeowners expect to live in a home where they can breathe healthy air.
2. Comfort – Homeowners expect to be comfortable in their homes; nobody wants a “cold” room that they can’t use during the winter, or a “hot” room that is uncomfortable in the summer.
3. Durability – Beware the money pit. There are often hidden problems that don’t rear their ugly heads until after the sale.

The objective of this course is to prepare agents with home construction best practices that guide them while assisting their clients in the builder selection process. Agents will be better prepared to help their clients address those key desired features, which are often “not on the list.” This course will challenge attendees to evaluate their current definition of what it means for a home to be “Well Built.” Agents will walk away with raised standards for vetting a qualified home builder to recommend for their clients.
