Curious Comedy is holding group auditions for Curious' flagship show Showdown and The Gauntlet's short-form tournament ensemble.

We are holding auditions in the ANNEX Theater on:
Thursday July 23rd, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Saturday July 25th, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Saturday July 25th, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
SHOWDOWN ENSEMBLE DETAILS
- Coaching, admin, and rehearsal space costs covered by Curious Comedy.
- Rehearsals take place Thursdays, from 7pm-9pm. Attendance of 2 rehearsals a month is required. New cast members may be asked to attend weekly for an initial period of time.
- Shows are Fridays/Saturdays at 7:30pm in Curious Main Stage. Call time is 6:30pm. Performers are cast on a rotating basis each month based on submitted availability. Performers are expected to be available for at least 2 shows per month.
- Curious Comedy will produce and promote shows.
- Ensemble members are expected to actively and consistently promote as well.
- Comp tickets for performers to attend other Curious shows.
- Comp tickets for performers to invite guests to their shows.
- Performers are offered 2 tickets to use for free drinks and/or food from our bar the night of your performance.
- Showdown performers are required to participate in two or more community shows per six months period as leaders (hosts/coaches/assistant coaches/facilitators). These include Open Court, Game Face, and affinity jams.
THE GAUNTLET: THE FORMAT
The Gauntlet is an elimination-style short-form show in which ensemble and guesting improvisers are cast randomly in scenes or games. A Host will have the Audience score games / scenes and—through the course of the show—lower-scoring improvisers will be eliminated and higher-scoring improvisers will progress. The last improviser standing is crowned the Champion of the Gauntlet.
THE GAUNTLET SEASON 10: EXPECTATIONS FOR BEING CAST:
- 7 month commitment (August 2026- March 2027)
- 2 - 3 ensemble-only rehearsals to be schedule in AUGUST (based on ensemble availability.)
- Ensemble will have 2 Wednesday rehearsals a month for August - March. Newly cast ensemble members will perform with the - Season 7 ensemble in August and will begin performing with guest players in March
- Bi-monthly shows on Sundays at 7:30pm in the Curious Annex (to immediately follow the short-form jam: Game Face.)
- To miss no more than two rehearsals and two shows for the season run (and to communicate conflicts in advance as much as possible.)
- Curious will produce and promote shows
