About this Event

Join Richard Johns, Professor in the History of Art Department at the University of York, to finally answer one of the field's most compelling questions: "Can my five year-old really do that?"

This laid-back lecture will explore what it means to create a work of art, and who gets to say what is and isn't art. Expect some surprises! The first drink is included in your ticket.

What to Expect
  • An Engaging, 30-Minute Presentation: Where you can learn in a relaxed setting.
  • Interactive Q&A: A judgment-free zone. Ask whatever you want—no question is too basic, silly, or out-there.
  • A Free Drink: Your ticket covers the cost of the distinguished speaker's time, and one free drink (non-alcoholic options available)
  • Good Company: Meet fellow York locals who share a passion for learning new things just for the fun of it.

Curiosity Forum is a brand-new lecture series at Patch York designed for anyone who loves learning cool stuff, minus the academic fluff.

We’re bringing top-tier researchers into a relaxed venue to talk about the topics they are genuinely obsessed with so you can learn a thing or two!

Think of it as the ultimate pub chat—where the speaker really, really knows their stuff.
