About this Event

Discover the modernist legacy of Hampstead in this talk, centred on the iconic Isokon Building. Designed by Wells Coates, and first opened in 1934, the Isokon (also known as the Lawn Road Flats) became a creative hub for artists, architects, writers and émigré intellectuals fleeing Europe before the Second World War as well as an important part of the modernist landscape of London.

Join Assistant Curator, Helen Woollison, as we explore the architecture, art, and design of modernist Hampstead as it became an unlikely key player of the movement. This talk will take place in the Christopher Wade Gallery where you will also get the chance to see our Hampstead Vanished and Imagined exhibition.

Talk begins: 1.30pm

Please note: Although this is a free talk, booking is necessary as numbers are limited. We kindly ask that if you have booked and are unable to come, you get in touch with us at [email protected].
