From Heroes to Robots: Discourses on Medicine’s Identity
What is medicine becoming—and what should it be?
Keynote speaker – Professor Roger Kneebone
This conference interrogates the existential, ethical, and systemic pressures redefining what it means to be a healer in the 21st century amid competing demands—between art and AI algorithms, empathy and efficiency, burnout, individual care and institutional requirements.
Key sub themes:
The Erosion of the “Hero” Narrative
Technology’s Double-Edged Sword
The Crisis of Meaning in Medical Training
Medicine as Labor vs. Vocation
Reclaiming the Soul of Medicine
Whether you are studying to be a healthcare professional (you don't have to be a medical student!), writer, researcher, or student, your perspective matters. Let’s redefine what it means to care.
