Culture Kitchen Fundraising Dinner

Come join us on Thursday November 28th for a sit down fundraising dinner in support of our Culture Kitchen Program.

Since 2018, Roots has been welcoming Newcomer women into our kitchen space to come together to learn, share food and connect with each other. This dinner will feature chefs from Central and South America sharing their cultural foods. The Culture Kitchen program is a 7-week, food skills and language building course hat builds belonging and community for women who have relocated to Thunder Bay as refugees or new immigrants and who are interested in exploring small food businesses as an income option.

Culture Kitchen women bring their own culinary skills and experiences into a space where we share and explore new cultures, new foods, and build community. Throughout the course, they practice creating and budgeting recipes, meet members of the Thunder Bay community, gain certification in Safe Food Handling, and learn from other women small business owners. There is support for childcare, translation and on-site interpreters to help facilitate communication.
