About this Event
In celebration of National Poetry Month, QPL’s Culture Connection is delighted to host an evening rediscovering classic poet-songwriters performed by Peter Calo (guitar & vocals), Anne Carpenter (vocals), Charles Duke (piano & vocals), and Paul Adamy (bass).
Singer-songwriters emerged out of the idealism of the 1960s but marked a shift away from utopian ideas of collectivism. These artists embodied the "inward turn" of the 1970s. Their songs were often intimate, poetic, and very personal reflections on their internal experiences.
Paul Adamy has performed and/or recorded with such varied artists as Art Garfunkel,
Judy Collins, Cher, Melissa Etheridge, Cyndi Lauper, Joan Osborne, Phoebe Snow, and many more.
Peter Calo has performed and/or recorded with such diverse artists as Carly Simon, Dionne Warwick, Queen Latifah, Willie Nelson, Hall and Oates, Andrea Bocelli, Jimmy Webb, Kris Kristofferson, Lesley Gore, Crash Test Dummies, and many more.
Anne Carpenter has been a presence on the New York music scene for the past decade. Anne has been performing with Peter Calo for the past seven years presenting the music of Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, Paul Simon and James Taylor.
Charles Duke is a New York City based multi-faceted musician, a commissioned composer and award-winning songwriter. He has served as Artistic Director in Residence and creator of the Creative Music Songwriting Program empowering the voices of New York City's youth through music. Charles is delighted to be returning to Culture Connection.
