Yule falls on the Winter Solstice and is a celebration of the longest night of the year, which marks the start of the long winter months. Although gift-giving and feasting are important parts of Yule celebrations, it is also an important occasion which appreciates and mark the end of busyness. Traditionally this was the butchering, farming and harvesting seasons, but modern life brings its own set of challenges and increased pace – perhaps for you this is the first school term, the race to prepare for the holiday season, or the perfect present buying pursuit!
It’s typically a hectic and stressful time for many, so please join us for a chance to take a breath and slow down for a couple of hours, whilst sharing food with others. Yule is a fantastic time to share what you are thankful for and to set your intentions for the future, especially those that align with peace, love, and ways to increase happiness.
The culture club team will offer entirely optional crafts, which will include the final session in our rag bunting making, plus seasonal makes, and activities to keep children entertained too.
What can I bring to the feast?
We would love you to bring the special festive treats and buffet items that you enjoy making (or buying!) and eating, at this time of year. Think 'picky bits' like crisps & fancy dips, mini sausages (veggie most welcome), vol-au-vents, crispy coleslaw, or perhaps even cheese and crackers, pickles or preserves, warming pie or a spicy stew or even sweet treats - it's up to you!
Culture Club is a monthly event that involves food, crafts, and arts and are themed around seasonality and culture.
They are FREE to attend for Village Hub Members who live in Stoke and Morice Town.
Donations are welcome from other visitors.
