About this Event

Join the WCHS for Culture & Cocktails at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 9, as Barbara Schwab presents "The History of Congregation B'nai Abraham."

Barbara Schwab, from the Board of Trustees of Congegation B'nai Abraham in Hagerstown, will present this lecture, which explores the history of early Jewish residents in Washington County during the time of Jonathan Hager through the growth of the Jewish community during the 19th century. The local Jewish community founded the Synagogue of the Sons of Abraham in Hagerstown in 1892, which built the present-day synagogue in 1925 that continues as the home of Congregation B'nai Abraham today.

Culture & Cocktails pairs a local history lecture with a special cocktail. Each attendee receives one drink ticket; refreshments and cash bar available. Doors will open at 5:30, and the lecture will take place from 6:00 to 7:15 PM.

Culture & Cocktails is generously sponsored by the James & Mary Schurz Foundation.
