Join us at our Cultivating Connections event on Sat 15th November 2025, at the Westfield Hub, Yeovil, from 10-2:30pm.
We'll have inspiring speakers and activities, with a focus on projects in Yeovil and South Somerset. It will be a chance to strengthen connections, with the theme of engaging - volunteers, service users, communities, as well as statutory & wider organisations.
Short talks:
Joe Knights: hear about Yeovil's network of growing and green spaces and the work of the South Somerset Environment Forum, which connects projects, shares expertise and organises work parties, which includes the skilled scythers from Able2Achieve.
Sue Wheeler, Yeovil Town Council: with news on the Yeovil Allotments 'refresh' and the emergence of a local Growing Hub.
Discussion:
James Ladamore, Spark Someset: Find out how Somerset's Vision for Volunteering is taking shape and about recent learning from organsiations and volunteers - their needs and Somerset-wide strategies to meet these needs.
Visit the Westfield Community Garden. Hear how the team are facing the reality and challenges of keeping this community project growing, including finding new ways of working.
Practical activities:
Chop & chat - help cook up our seasonal soup and pud - share tips and ideas, guided by Kim Robinson, an amazing community cook and one of our trustees.
Save & swap seeds - learn tips on saving and storing seeds with Jane Sweetman from Wild Roots, bring seeds to sort and share.
Grow mircro-greens - decorate and plant up a windowsill garden from recycled materials - a great gardening idea for children, with Lara Honnor from Skool Beanz.

As always, we'll sit down for a seasonal soup and pud we'll have cooked up on the day using local and surplus food, plus share our news.
We'll be adding more details of the day as we confirm with contributors.
The event is always a success because of what you make it, either by running a workshop, bringing produce, cake or flowers for the tables, as well as your help on the day with setting up, clearing down and washing up : ) Get in touch if you have something to offer: [email protected]
Watch this space !
NB It's a great community venue but no car park, so you can drop off, but you will need to find parking in the local area. Blue Badge parking is available. We have been advised that the Google Maps postcode is not accurate so please aim for St Peters Church - BA21 3DY.
St Peters Community Centre hosts a range of food resilience projects, find out more on the day.
