Come celebrate 2 years of Cult Movie Nights at the Rivoli!Join us on Saturday, January 25th, for one of the craziest double-features to grace the Rivoli’s big screen, with a pair of fan favorites voted on by the Riv Cvlt Club: 1985’s joke-a-second classic Clue, followed by Japan’s most notorious horror comedy, 1977’s House!
Although these films are wildly different from one another, they share one key narrative element: a big house! With that in mind, consider yourself invited to our first ever “HOUSE” party!
Beyond our usual Cult Movie Night offerings of pre-show entertainment, specialty cocktails, and exclusive buttons, we'll also have an extra barrel of (relatively good) beer on hand -- and in the spirit of a true house party, your first red cup is on the "house" if you sign up for the Cvlt Club!
So what are you waiting for? Call up your friends and tell them to get ready for a night like none other, only at the Rivoli!

1985 - 40th Anniversary Presentation!
An endlessly quotable black comedy based on the board game of the same name, Clue is a true hidden gem, not to mention one of the funniest comedies of the last 40 years. The plot goes much like the game: six strangers are invited to an isolated mansion by a man who knows a dark secret from each of their pasts. On arrival, each is given a pseudonym before being introduced to their blackmailer. They are then all handed a weapon, at which point the lights are switched off and the blackmailer is killed. Can the guests uncover the murderer before they all become victims?
Although it was a commercial flop upon release, Clue has gone on to become one of the most revered cult comedies ever made, thanks to it’s breathless pacing, ingenious dialog, and a star studded cast that includes Tim Curry, Christopher Llyod, Madeline Kahn and Michael McKean (just to name a few). And now thanks to the Riv Cvlt Club voters, you can catch it on the big screen just in time for its 40th anniversary!

1977
One of Japan’s greatest cult exports finally comes to Cult Movie Night: 1977’s House! In this nearly inexplicable comedy/horror classic, a young woman who goes by the name “Gorgeous” is looking to get away from her father and his creepy new lover, so she resolves to visit her aunt's remote mansion. With six of her closest friends in tow, including the musically inclined Melody and the geeky Prof, Gorgeous arrives at the estate, where supernatural events occur almost immediately. What kind of events do you ask? A severed head takes flight, household appliances come to life and a portrait of a cat seems to contain an evil spirit - and that’s just scratching the surface.
Originally released in Japan in 1977 but largely unseen in the United States until 2009, House is one of the most bewildering and bewitching films ever made, a truly one of a kind experience that you won’t soon forget. If ever there were a film that must be seen to be believed, this is it. We here at the Rivoli can’t wait to share the secrets of House with you, so grab your tickets today and we’ll see you on Saturday, January 25th!
