Saturday night at The Matinee starts with Moon Tipper — Akron locals who'll get the room warmed up before Sulestial drives in from Milwaukee. His set is harder to categorize than it sounds on paper: electronic music, yes, but he came up on jazz guitar and violin before production entered the picture, and that background shows. The funk grooves are real, the synths sit on top of them, and the whole thing moves. Cult Kids close it out — two-piece hard rock, also from Akron, built around guitar and drums in a way that tends to make people forget there's no bass player.
