CT Intermediate Paddle: Connecticut & Farmington Rivers
Advertisement
Join Connecticut River Conservancy for an intermediate paddle on the Connecticut and Farmington Rivers in Windsor on Friday, July 24 at 4:00PM – 7:30PM. Bring your own boat & money for a quick dinner or ice cream when we take a mid-paddle snack break at Bart's in Windsor, CT!
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED: https://www.ctriver.org/event-details/ct-intermediate-paddle-2026
We will launch from the Vibert Road Boat Launch in South Windsor, then paddle across the CT River to the south end of the island at the confluence of the Farmington River. From there, the group will paddle upstream to enter the mouth of the Farmington River. We will continue our paddle upstream along the Farmington River until we reach the Rt 159 bridge. The group will take out at the Windsor Boat Ramp, located behind Bart’s Drive-In Restaurant for a group break. If anyone wishes, they may purchase ice cream or a milkshake at Bart’s (no alcohol). We will then launch onto the Farmington River and return by the same route. There is currently no scheduled release from Rainbow Dam during this time of day, so the river current will be negligible. There is enough water to paddle on the lower Farmington River. Total distance will be approximately 5.25 miles.
Note: This event is oriented toward paddlers who have an intermediate skill level and above. Youth ages 14+ may join this trip with a parent or guardian present. Please bring your own boat, paddle, and PFD as none will be provided. Hard shelled kayak/canoes required; no inflatable canoes/kayaks are allowed on intermediate trips. All participants are required to sign a waiver and wear a personal floatation device (PFD) while on the water.
Paddle Itinerary:
4pm - Meet & launch at Vibert Road Boat Launch
4:30-5:30pm - Paddle to Barts along the Farmington River
5:30-6:15pm - Snack/ Ice Cream at Barts!
