Lesson starts at 7pm, social dance starts at 8pm.LESSON: Intermediate West Coast Swing.
This class requires a solid working knowledge of and the skills to dance all basic patterns (starter step, side passes, pushes, whip) on your own and with a partner.
INSTRUCTOR/DJ: Mané Rebelo-Plaut and Roger Plaut
Mané and Roger have both been dancing and teaching dance for decades!
Mané studied and competed in gymnastics for several years before studying ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Roger studied ballet from a young age. They both danced professionally with ballet and contemporary companies in New York and Washington, DC, working with renowned choreographers and performing in cities around the world. After retiring as professional ballet dancers, they studied and competed in ballroom dance before focusing on West Coast Swing in 2013.
Both Mané and Roger began teaching dance as teenagers. They taught ballet, stretch, and floor barre at many dance studios and universities over the years. They have also taught beginner ballroom classes and wedding dance lessons, but now they primarily teach West Coast Swing. They have led the organization of the WCS Flashmob in the Washington, DC, area for the past several years, and Roger has also been the coach of the DC-area WCS team dcRolePlay. They love sharing their passion for West Coast Swing with others and helping to build a warm, supportive dance community.
ADMISSION:
- $10 CSDS members or students (with student ID)
- $15 General admission
