CRT Game On Wales invites your school to participate in the first CRT Game On Primary School Fun Football Festival – a mixed festival – taking place on Tuesday 14th July 2026 at the University of South Wales Indoor Sports Park. With participation in football continuing to grow across Wales, we are excited to introduce this new primary school festival, designed to give children a positive first experience of football in a safe, fun and inclusive environment.
Parents and teachers consistently tell us that pupils love attending CRT Game On festivals because they are welcoming, energetic and allow children to develop skills while playing with their friends in a relaxed setting.
Festival Aims
This annual festival will:
Encourage boys and girls in Years 3 & 4 to be active, supporting the health and wellbeing of young people living in our former coal mining towns and villages.
Support the Football Association of Wales Grassroots Strategy 2024–30, ensuring high-quality school football experiences for all children. CRT Game On Wales (Coalfields Regeneration Trust) is proud to be an Affiliate Partner of the Football Association of Wales.
Adopt engaging game principles such as retreat lines, game imbalance adaptations and music, in line with the FAW Primary and SEN Schools Football Framework.
Provide a positive first taste of football and, for some, a stepping stone into club football or local informal opportunities such as Fun Football.
Strengthen and champion our coalfield communities through football at one of the UK’s leading indoor facilities.
Create new, targeted participation opportunities to grow and retain young players.
To showcase our community Tennis programme and introduce more children to this wonderful sport.
There is no entry charge.
All CRT Game On Wales coaches and volunteers are fully DBS-checked.

CicStart Teacher Training Opportunity
The CicStart Framework has been developed to support and guide football provision for children aged 7–11 in both primary schools and Additional Learning Needs (ALN) settings across Wales. The framework promotes an inclusive approach with a strong focus on participation, learning, and player development.
As part of the festival, the FAW will either deliver a 45-minute workshop designed to upskill teachers or provide information to build confidence and provide practical tools to help bring the CicStart Framework to life in schools.
