Are you a member of the public who is concerned about the safety of immigrants today? Are you an ELL teacher, lawyer, psychologist, social worker, or local government employee who helps immigrants? Are you eager to learn new information on this topic?
Join us for the first in a series of facilitated conversations about media (short stories, novels, poems, photographs, film clips, podcasts, artworks, news articles, songs, etc.) related to immigration today. Find support and fresh perspectives through discussion with others in our community. The first meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4. Later sessions will occur on April 1 and May 6.
The first program will focus on children and school. To participate in the first program, please read “Eleven” from Woman Hollering Creek by Sandra Cisneros and the first two chapters of Helen Thorpe’s book The Newcomers.
This program is free and is open to the public. Group size is limited; to save a place and obtain readings, contact Britta at [email protected] or (815) 756-9568 ext. 2100.
