4th October Midday to 1:30pm - Crocheted & Wired Feathers and FlowersYou will learn how to crochet around wires using a 2.5mm crochet hook, to make a range of basic ornamental petal and leaf shapes, using an original ‘recipe style’ pattern and hand-dyed yarn that will all be provided to you as part of the kit. You will then learn how to combine these to make your own brooch, hat pin, or fascinator. You will also explore how you might add beads to your creations if you wish to take things further in your own time!
Basic crochet knowledge required. Places limited - booking is essential.
About The_Yarn_Whisperer
Kitey (Andrew) is the Indie Dyer behind Yarn Whisperer, which he started during the pandemic, and has been crocheting for 10 years.
He was a Primary Teacher for 30yrs, in Australia, the UK & the Middle East, which explains his passion for sharing new skills with others & helping them to master new techniques.
He has twice been a guest designer at WoollyAway, Hertfordshire, a crochet and knitting retreat where he has taught crochet workshops using his own original designs & his hand-dyed yarns and has also designed and taught for The Crochet Sanctuary in Cranage, Cheshire. He has also taught at The Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally and at The Stitch Festival at the Business Design Centre in London.
As a dyer, he is inspired by the colours of food, nature and The Universe, and loves finding new and exciting ways to use hand dyed yarn, and to incorporate other skills such as embroidery and beading.
Things to remember
• All materials will be provided on the day
• the workshop is on the 2nd floor of the shop. If you have mobility issues please be aware that access is via a staircase
• the workshop is 90 minutes
• there is limited disabled parking in Green Street and Sappers Walk
• Nearest car parks are in Balmoral Road, Jeffrey Street, James Street and Trafalgar Street
• Gillingham train station is a 5/10 minute walk
Spaces are limited to 8 people.
Booking is required. The fee includes a 25% non-returnable deposit if you cancel less than 7 days before the event.
