Learn to make a galaxy of crochet stars with artist Amanda Banks, whose dress is featured in the "Embodied" exhibition at BPL.
About this Event

In this three-hour workshop, artist Amanda Banks will teach you everything you need to know about making crochet stars. Participants will learn the five foundational crochet stitches, how to work in the round, and how to finish a project. All experience levels are welcome (even beginners), and all materials are provided. Space is limited, so please register to reserve your place.

Amanda Banks is an artist and research professional based in Huntsville, Alabama. Her practice merges a multidisciplinary education in engineering, global business, and textiles to create thought-provoking work about labor and care. Amanda is a 2026 South Arts Emerging Traditional Artist, VP of Special Projects for the Alabama Women’s Caucus for Art, and Craft Yarn Council certified instructor with more than 30 years of crochet experience.

This workshop is made possible in part by a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
