Learn how to do the Griddle stitch using two colors of yarn, single crochet and double crochet stitch.
If you are not comfortable doing the dc stitch you can still sign up and come to the class to work on a basic stitch. If you come to work on chaining on just know that you will not be going home knowing how to do the Griddle stitch.
