Show Statement:
They used to make art; now they spend their time amplifying the artistic efforts of others. Museum and gallery directors, nonprofit arts organization founders, art teachers, and other local arts advocates have made a life with art that is nearly 100 percent public-facing, yet their own art making is rarely if ever seen. Or it's a long ago pastime. This exhibition challenges participants to make new work, potentially rekindling their interest in art making. It also highlights the depth and breadth of the local and regional arts ecosystem, offering the public an opportunity to go behind-the-scenes with the people who help create the arts community. The broad range of artists who have accepted so far work in clay, mixed media sculpture, painting, printmaking, photography and more (and as mentioned, there are 3 additional artists who may yet confirm). The participants' work is united in the theme that they don't make art to make a living, yet are immersed in art and with artists every day, which is a unique perspective.
