About this Event
In this talk, Nina Gary introduces the key theory of her dissertation (Saidiya Hartman's "critical fabulation") and defends its use in efforts to create a fuller picture of the literary lives of Anglo-Jews in the high Middle Ages. Beyond merely supposing that these Anglo-Jewish communities did compose literature of an affective nature, she proposes that the employment of critical fabulation can reveal what literatures these communities composed.
Nina Gary is a 6th year PhD candidate in the Department of English here at The University of Texas at Austin. She holds a BA in English and History from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI and an MA in English from UT Austin. Studying under Dr. Geraldine Heng, her work broadly concerns the literary output of Anglo-Jews of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries.
This talk is part of the Graduate Student Lunch Colloquium Series.
Lunch provided for those who RSVP in by Tuesday, October 14th
