Creatures of the greenhouse

Everyone is welcome to join a creatures printmaking workshop in Vatnasmýri!
From 12:30 to 15:00 the greenhouse at the Nordic House will open its doors for a fun and creative afternoon of printmaking. Inspired by the exhibition Membrane: Myth and Fictions of Soil currently on view at the Nordic House and open to all visitors throughout the day, artist Estelle Pollaert will lead a hands-on monotype printing workshop.
Using monotype techniques, participants will create illustrations of creatures living in the soil. Each artwork will then be printed using a press, allowing everyone to make several copies of their design.
Participants are invited to leave one print behind to help fill the greenhouse with a collective display of creatures created during the workshop. Later, the prints will be sewn together into a small book that will become part of the exhibition.
A guided tour of the exhibition Membrane: Myth and Fictions of Soil will take place from 13:00 in Hvelfing if you are looking for inspiration for the workshop!
About the teacher, Estelle Pollaert is a French multidisciplinary artist based in Reykjavik. Her art is playful, colorful and makes us smile everyday we encounter them! Estelle has experience teaching to Children’s in English, French and Icelandic.
