Creature Feature: Using Critters to Write the Southern, Spooky, & Unstable
About this Event
The south is a place of overlap and entanglement: we share our environment with creatures large and small, from the crows lined up on powerlines to the palmetto bugs skittering the sidewalks to the possums creeping across the fences at night. These more-than-human lives impact us all on a daily basis, so of course they enter our creative worlds. In a conversation curated and facilitated by Stacey Balkun, five writers of different genres will read from their work, followed by a short discussion of how the critters in their lives impact their stories, and how the storied critters impact their audience in turn.
Free and open to the public; donations gratefully accepted. Donations support One Book One New Orleans' year-round work.
The Andre Cailloux Center for Performing Arts and Cultural Justice is accessible to community members who require mobility-related ADA accommodations. Parking near the venue is free, though somewhat limited. The nearest RTA stop is at N. Broad and Columbus.
