Artist Info

Ray Aggs

Ray Aggs is an award winning multi instrumentalist and songwriter based in Glasgow. Aggs, a prolific specialist in euphoric post-punk, has achieved international acclaim with collaborative touring projects Trash Kit, Shopping, Sacred Paws, Calliope and The Pegwells . Creating zines and co-ordinating workshops that encourage women, non-binary people, and people of colour to form bands, Aggs has galvanised the DIY scene in the UK. Aggs released a solo album on Lost Map records as part of their Visitations residency in 2019 and self released //Tape 1// in 2020. Both releases showcase Aggs’ signature hybrid post-punk/highlife inspirations stripped down to new minimal extremes. Pulsating, electronic beats, coolly-recited lyrical mantras and spindly guitar lines abound in this lifeaffirming music that speaks directly to your heart.

Miwa Nagato-Apthorp

Miwa Nagato-Apthorp is a Singer-Songwriter based in Hawick in the Scottish Borders. Her songwriting practice draws on folk traditions to explore multicultural understandings of history, climate, gender and home. She has performed at John McCusker’s Southside of the Tracks, Celtic Connections, Edinburgh Tradfest and opened for Eddi Reader. Miwa was recently Musician in Residence at Alchemy Film & Arts and Connecting Threads where she developed new music exploring lesser-known histories and perspectives of the Scottish Borders and beyond. Her debut EP, Noren, was released in March 2025 and she was awarded “Best Acoustic” at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.

Simone Seales

Originally from Florida, Simone Seales is a Glasgow-based cellist and performance artist working with free improvisation, live looping, poetry, and theatre.

Their practice centres play, silliness, and connection, exploring sound as an embodiment of emotion. Their creative influences come from Black feminist leaders such as Audre Lorde, Assata Shakur and bell hooks. Within Simone's work, they centre Blackness, sexuality, intersectional feminism and anti-racism.

They were commissioned by the 2025 Edinburgh International Book Festival to perform Dearest with Mele Broomes, ahead of the album’s debut release in November 2025.

They are Musician in Residence with Paraorchestra, and have performed across the UK and internationally.

Salam Kitty

Salam Kitty began DJing as a sonic exploration into their cultural roots and queer identity, as co-founder of Scottish QTIPoC+ parties, Salam uses music as a way to connect to their local community. Always evolving and exploring, Salam brings an eclectic mix of bass heavy and percussive genres with fun edits, afro-electronic and left-field experimental techno and electro.

Creatives of Colour Festival

The festival centers the voices, experiences, and creativity of people of colour in Glasgow. Storytelling sits at the heart of these creative practices, and celebrates the resilience, joy, and talent of BIPOC artists. Co-curated by Zahra Khosroshahi and Kevin Leomo.

Our stories. Our lens. Our terms.

The Festival is supported by ‘Thinking Culture’, a cultural programme from the School of Culture & Creative Arts and the Ferguson Bequest, University of Glasgow.
