Creative writing course- SMHAF
About this Event
Join Common Wheel for a 3 week block of creative writing with the option to submit your final piece to the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival writing competition. This is completely optional but staff will support you if this is something you'd like to do.
Competition Guidelines are:
The theme for 2026 is Reflections. This can be interpreted in any way you choose – the limit is your imagination. There are three categories and you can submit one piece in each category: writing with a factual basis, between 500 and 2000 words. Examples can include journaling, autobiographical writing, personal essays, letters and creative journalism.
- FICTION: Short fiction pieces, including short stories, between 500 and 2000 words.
- POETRY: Poems, up to 40 lines.
- CREATIVE NON-FICTION: Creative
The deadline for the competition is Sunday 9th August and we will be able to help you upload your work at the session on 6th August.
