About this Event
This Creative Wellbeing walk celebrates Mental Health Awareness Week with a trip to Camley Nature Reserve in Camden, starting and finishing at Pancras Square Library.
A gentle walk with some creative prompts to find 'Glimmers' - 'Glimmers' are small, micro-moments of joy, safety, or connection that calm the nervous system and counteract stress. These can be found anywhere in day to day life - but you have to be mindful when looking for them.
Join us for a creative wellbeing walk to Camley Street Natural Park to mark Mental Health Awareness.
Meeting at the Community Cafe in Pancras Square Library and after a briefing, we’ll set off to explore, wonder and create.
Everyone is welcome. Children must be supervised by an adult.

Here is a breakdown of what participants can look forward to:
The Route and Pace
- Accessible Terrain: The walk is a short, 0.1-mile transit that is "mostly flat," making it ideal for parents with buggies and elderly participants.
- Gentle Pace: In line with wellbeing walk principles, the pace will be slow and steady to ensure the group stays together and no one feels overwhelmed
- Rest Points: There are benches along the route for those who need a pause.
The Destination: Camley Street Natural Park
Walkers will step out of the busy city and into a two-acre "wild green space". Highlights of the park include:
- Diverse Habitats: Participants can explore woodland, grassland, wetland, and meadow environments.
- Wildlife Spotting: The reserve is home to mallards, coots, herons, and even rare fungi. Walkers might catch a glimpse of a kingfisher or swan from "Viewpoint," a unique floating platform on the Regent's Canal.
- Nature Connection: The environment provides opportunities to notice nature through sight, sound, and smell, which can help ease stress and improve mood.
Creative Activities
- 20-Minute Creative Session: Once the group arrives at the park, there will be a dedicated creative activity session in the outdoor space
- Inspiration: Participants may be inspired to draw, paint, or write based on the animals and nature scenes they observe.
Facilities and Comfort
- Refreshments: The outdoor Kingfisher Café is available at the park, serving herbal teas, coffee, hot chocolate, and snacks like premium bagels and cakes.
- Essential Amenities: The park is equipped with accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities, ensuring comfort for families and those with specific health needs.
- Clothing: No specialist equipment is required; walkers should simply wear comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for the day's weather.
Safety and Organization
- Trained Leadership: The walk is led by a trained volunteer who is responsible for the group's safety and wellbeing.
- Welcome Briefing: Before setting off, you will provide a briefing to share the plan, highlight any hazards, and take a headcount to ensure everyone is accounted for.
