A creative stitched craft workshop, hand sewing with embroidery threads on postcards, or photographs, at The Scrap space's cosy craft room.
About this Event

A 3hr workshop, using hand stitched embroidery threads onto postcards.

Firstly we will learn a few basic stitches, by making a small sampler card. Learning to seperate the strands your embroidery thread, cross stitch, chain stitch, and french knots. No sewing experience necessary, as we will be looking at threading your needle with a looped start and finishing your thread with no knots.

Then moving on to your choice of post card, tracing your stitched design, and making your stitch holes. To choosing colours and start a stichin!

Everyones work will be unique, by the very nature of this craft. I will have a mix of traditional cross stitch motifs, lettering, and templates to get you started.

If you would like to work on one of your own photographs instead of a postcard please bring it with you. Please dont bring anything antique and precious, it would be a good idea to photograph it , and have it reprinted to practice on. You could also turn any modern photos into black and white on your phone, and get them preprinted for a vintage look, which will make the thread colours really pop!

It will be a small class with opportunities for some 1 to 1 tuition.

All materials included, and thread to finish your work.

Please bring reading glasses if you need them.

Tea and biscuits.
