Creative Resistance: Arts-Based Activism and Drug Policy in Colorado
About this Event
Join us for an evening of zines, art, music, movement history, and drug user-led organizing as we celebrate the launch of 8:32, a zine created by-for-with PWUD rooted in drug user rights, anti-carceral drug policy, and Harm Reduction!
Special guest and 8:32 collaborator Heather Edney will showcase original Junkphood pieces and sign copies of Sucking Dick for Syringes — her latest zine, featured in a MoMA PS1 exhibit in NYC last year. Bring your copy!
The night will also feature local zinemakers including @SlutwalkDenver and @WildGriefOfferings, sharing work at the intersections of Liberatory Harm Reduction, Know Your Rights education, feminism, abolition, sex worker and queer and trans liberation movement art, @DJ Chinola creating an immersive sonic experience with psychedelic jazz textures, and genre bending selections throughout the night, a live art piece by Mike Montoya, a photo booth curated by @opaleyesphoto, collective art-making, and conversation about zines, storytelling, organizing, and building more humane drug policy in Colorado.
**Bring a sticker, flyer, patch, button, or little memento of Harm Reduction history for the "Taking Our Power Back" community collage.**
